 Chief Paulus of the Edinburg and Palmyra Township Fire Departments Completes Executive Leadership Training Program
Chief Tim Paulus of the Edinburg and Palmyra Township Fire Departments recently graduated from the Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) program, an intensive, two-and-a-half year executive education program geared toward chief fire officers. Graduation was held Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Huntington Club in Ohio Stadium at the Ohio State University. Chief Paulus began the program in April 2007 as part of the seventh class of the executive fire officer leadership program. Chief Paulus graduated with 22 other officers from fire departments across Ohio. Graduation from the OFE program signifies one of the highest levels of achievement in the profession. OFE is designed to provide fire and emergency service officers with the educational experience focused on the development of executive skills used by effective leaders. As a member of the seventh OFE class, Chief Paulus is among an elite group of officers in Ohio to successfully complete the program. The Board of Trustees of both Edinburg and Palmyra Townships would like to take this time to congratulate Chief Timothy Paulus for his participation in the Executive Fire Officer program. To make a 2-1/2 year commitment to this program, while maintaining all of his other responsibilities to both townships, demonstrates his desire to capture all the education that’s needed as the Chief Fire Officer. Trustees from both townships were present for the graduation along with Tim’s wife Shannon and other members of his family. During the five weeks of in-residence classes, and during the interim between those weeks, the program requires in-depth participation in a significant number of learning modules. In part, participants are required to read books and case studies, write several papers, present in-class speeches, develop an organizational strategic plan and complete a research project. The program is taught by accomplished instructors from both within and outside the fire service including faculty from academia and consultants. |
